application for abraxas
OOC INFORMATION
Player Name: Kit
Are you over 18?: Yes
Contact:
alexipharmaca
Other Characters in Game: Harrowhark Nonagesimus
IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Augustine Bertrand (goes by Gus, but I'd like her full name on her tag & such)
Canon: Original
Canon Point:
Background:
Point of Origin: Augustine's world is one just like ours except that there's hidden magic -- but it's much more a modern universe with urban fantasy touches than the typical urban fantasy novel. She's familiar with the concepts of elemental magic and individual psionic powers, as one of her parents has the gift of 'finding things' (with one part of a set, he can always locate the others) but most of the world is garden variety normal. Since Gus is aged up from her original game setting age, she comes from the future in a world that had no 2019 pandemic.)
Suitability:
Augustine Bertrand has always wanted to matter, and to help.
This may seem similar to my other character, Harrow, but they're actually quite different. Harrow has her external reasons. Gus -- Gus has always been a remarkably ordinary person surrounded by extraordinary people. she is, however, fascinated by science and by stories and I think that being pulled into a Magical Universe with Missions is going to make her life. She will lose her depressive edges and suddenly become full-tilt invested ... except for the part where she's come in as a prisoner ... but in general. Did you say finding a cure for a mysterious disease? That's something Gus wants to engage in immediately. She wants to learn magic that doesn't reject her like the magic of her home does (she'd long given up on being able to use magic).
Gus' biggest personality flaw is her bravado; she just does things and I think she will just do the engagement with plot in a way that will actually be dangerous to her and she'll need to lighten up a bit, which I honestly love.
Powers: None, though some may call her intense genre savviness itself a power; she's read many a fantasy novel and may try to apply its logic to Abraxas.
PERSONALITY QUESTIONS
Describe an important event in your character's life and how it impacted them.
Does your character have a moral code, or other set of standards they try to live by?
What quality or qualities do they admire most?
Do they have a part of themselves they dislike?
What is their sign, and why?
The Sun. Gus is an optimist who tries to make everything a kind of joke. She wants to be silly and lighten the mood perpetually, even if she means this in a way that is supposed to be to keep those around her going. While she's studious and interested in her work, she's one of those people who thinks that life should be a good time, and if you're not always enjoying yourself, you're wasting it.
